City Cafe in Nortdport

A local friend of mine brought me here and it's so cute and sweetly situated in a mom n pop environment. The ladies working there are so gentle and kind. The food did not take long and was absolutely amazing. Lots of options for sides and cant beat the pricing. Will be back.

Everything tasted good, pancakes were made perfect, sweet tea was real sweet, grilled cheese was real cheesy, cheese biscuit was on point and the hash browns were not burnt and tasted real good.

I ordered an omelet.with...ham, cheese, onions. When I got home I had a fried egg, and in the other 2 compartments of the box, was a slice of ham, a few chopped onions and a slice of cheese. So much for an omelet I will never go back. What a dirty way to do someone. They could have told me. I had no breakfast.

Best vegetables in the country also wonderful breakfast early in the morning.8-15-17 got me a western omelet this morning, and some reason toast.12-11-17 chef salad and vegetables. Me and friend are you eating LH.10-1-18 . Me and my wife are eating lunch. 10-21-2019, 2- 17-20 Just catfish .

Great home cooked style meat & 2,3,4, or more. You will not be disappointed.

Didn't go on to eat but called in an order only to hear the manager yelling at the woman taking my order over something as tedious as the phone. Told the poor woman not to let it ruin her day and she deserves better. Noone should ever talk to their employees like that shame on them.

Food was great, service not to much. Great breakfast foods. Highly recommend if you dont mind repeating yourself for refills on drinks

Good food like Mom made ! Go early, you will stand in line for a booth/table. As one leaves the first in line takes the open seat. Great Iced Tea friendly service!

This is the place to go for your meat and three or four!! Hands down the best when it comes to country cooking like your grandparents! The fried green tomatoes are thin and crispy! Also the sweet tea is amazing! Pretty much exactly what you miss from your childhood days! The best part is the price! You walk out full as a tick and only spending $10 or less!!!

Amazing place for breakfast or lunch with friendly staff and great prices. I always enjoy a home cooked vegetable plate. Hopefully you can get there early enough for a biscuit!

Service was fantastic! Do not order the turkey sausage because it tastes like cardboard. It was a pleasant experience; however, I wish they offered healthier options.

The line out the door tells you the is great. But I wasn't prepared for just how good. Our son took us here as this where he eats daily. He, and his dad, ordered his usual - hamburger steak and veggies I had the fridge chicken breast fillet with Mac n cheese and okra. It was like eating at home! Just plain good!!!! The staff is great and there was hardly any wait time. The prices are great for all the food you get. I will be back for sure!!!

Possibly the best biscuit I've had in my life. The gravy was pretty good too.

Well this took me back to my high school cafeteria days... Same frozen, prebreaded chicken fried steak patty that tastes baked rather than fried, same watery mashed potatoes from flakes, same gravy from a mix, same store-bought cold roll. The only thing on my plate that tasted like it was pre-made and reheated were the lima beans.

Personal family owned restaurant. Always a pleasure to dine there early in the morning, or lunch. Waitresses are kind and they pay attention to your needs.

The best southern comfort food around, hands down. It's the first place we go when we get to town for Bama games. The tea is REALLY sweet so I usually have to get it half and half. My menu favorites are fried okra, Mac and cheese, and beef tips and rice.

Be prepared to stand while you wait for a seat, just how they do things here. Food is fantastic and reminded me of grandma's cooking.

Super duper Southern "meat and three" restaurant, which should be used to model restaurants worldwide. My southern soul warms to just the right temperature when I visit, and enjoy overeating! I suggest getting your tea half and half, and going early before the lunch line is too long.

Awesome breakfast and lunch.. Place is always packed out. Best place in town to get a meat and 3..or a chef salad. The reason I like to eat here is it taste like homecooking, it's all seasoned right like Grandma cooked it. Not like they just opened a can and heated it up. It's also located in downtown Northport which is like a trip back in time. It has that Mayberry feel, that we miss and need more of in this day and time. Try it out, you won't be disappointe

Food was great and staff was very friendly. I loved looking at all of the history on the wall. My only complaint is that I do not like how you wait for a table, and I don't like feeling like I am being watched while I eat by the people waiting for a table.

I have been eating at this restaurant since I was a kid. The food and customer service here is amazing! I have traveled around the country and ate at a variety of cafes but none of them compare to this one. I only wish that they stayed open 6 days a week or later than 3:30pm. Best Restaurant in Tuscaloosa/Northport!!!👍🏼👍🏼

It's been over a year since I've been able to eat there but it was great as usual. I've always been a fan of their breakfast and the omelet, sausage, hashbrowns and wheat toast are my go to. Expect a crowd but it has a quick turnover.

The food is average diner type fare, the atmosphere is kind of 'dingy rural' (if that were a thing), and the prices are not as low as one would expect with everything else being as it is. The biggest turn off for me though, was that all of my dishes and my husband's dishes were dirty. Not like some water spots dirty, but like whole chunks of cheese smeared on a mug dirty. And when they replaced that coffee mug for me, the one they brought had lipstick on it, lol! The flatware and other dishes were dirty too , but not quite as over the top as the cheese smear and lipstick. My husband and I were directed to this restaurant by a long time Tuscaloosa resident who adores it, so maybe we went on a really off day. I'll never know though, because my first visit was off putting enough that I don't plan to return.

Wonderful food!! As busy as they were the staff always made sure our table was taken care of and drinks were refilled.

I have been going to City Cafe since I was a toddler. It hasn't changed in the years since, which is something I'm incredibly grateful for. I love City Cafe, and if you ask any of the locals of Tuscaloosa or Northport, I bet they'd say the same. The food is the comfort-style, homemade, delicious type of food that you can only get in diners and small, mom-n-pop restaurants like this. I am especially in love with the catfish fingers, and I would describe them as consistently the best catfish ever!

First time going here and it didn't disappoint. I've constantly heard how good City Cafe is so I went in with high Hopes and glad I did. I got the 3 eggs with meat and the 2 biscuits and gravy and the food was excellent. The Staff was super nice, the food was very inexpensive, there was 6 of us, and out bill was under 50 bucks. A must stop for breakfast! I will be going here more often. Finally found that great local place to eat, wish I would have gone sooner!

My Kind of place for breakfast! A sign advertising biscuits w tomato gravy makes it even more appealing, food its great , clean place but its Staff its what makes it special! Great experience with a great cup of coffee!!

A Tuscaloosa must. The food is good and the price is extremely reasonable. Don’t let the line scare you. It is typically pretty quick to be seated.

Best southern cooking in Tuscaloosa and the best price anywhere. Simple and genuine. Don't expect anything fancy but it will deliver on taste.

I went to City cafe today after placing my order and standing up and being in the way and not having almost no where to stand without being in the way a bar seat came open so I sat down at the bar after being there for about 15 to 20 minuteswaiting I set down and was told to move it was for dining in customers and the waitress worked off tips. I've never been so humiliated. I had not even been sitting down 1 minute. Rude and poor customersvc not to mention half of my lunch was over. Will never eat there again...ijs.

Always great food. I love the consistency of the food here. It always taste the same. I wish they were open on weekends but I know everybody need a few days off!

I always carry out, the dining area is too small. Food is good though. I usually order two or three times a week and haven't been disappointed yet.

Great place to eat. Country cooking with good vegetables with perfect flavor! The buttermilk pie was delicious!
